Game 12: Indians 4, Athletics 3

Presswire

After starting the season with a 1-4 homestand, the Indians are now an amazing 6-1 on the road.

Ubaldo Jimenez was better than last time out, but he still took a lot of pitches to get through 6 innings. Only 56% of his 102 pitches were in the strike zone, continuing a troubling trend in the young season. But, like in Kansas City, he did enough to put the Indians in position to win the game.

Jack Hannahan drove in three of the four runs. In the second inning his sacrifice fly put the Indians on the board, and in the fourth his double down the left-field line put the Indians up 3-0. Shin-Soo Choo drove in what would be the winning run with a fifth inning single.

The A's pulled to within one with a run charged Tony Sipp in the seventh inning, but that was as close as they'd get, for Vinnie Pestano and Chris Perez each pitched a scoreless inning to close the game out.
