Not much going on over what for many is a holiday break. Here's the best of what I could find, starting with news from the Indians.
Jordan Bastian does the obligatory year in review piece for indians.com, identifying five key storylines from the year.
Cody Allen apparently won (lost?) the annual athlete does Christmas profile from indians.com.
And from around the league:
Matt Diaz signed a minor league deal with the Yankees.
The Hanrahan to Boston deal is official. Boston gets Joel Hanrahan and infielder Brock Holt, and send pitchers Mark Melancon and Stolmy Pimentel, first-baseman Jerry Sands and infielder Ivan DeJesus to the Pirates. The benchmark for closer trades has now been set for 2012.
And finally, two recent pieces from JoePos:
Joe Blogs: Prospects 2006: Joe Posnanski evaluates how well Baseball America did in identifying prospects in 2006.
Joe Blogs: The Boog Powell Card: "When you're 9 and in Cleveland, you are going to love Boog Powell. He was a Cleveland Indian. He hit home runs. And his name was "Boog." Done deal."
