Baseball America's Top 10 Prospects

Not too many surprises from the rankings, or the comments from BA.

Rick Osentoski-US PRESSWIRE

First, the rankings:

1. Francisco Lindor, ss
2. Dorssys Paulino, ss
3. Tyler Naquin, of
4. Cody Allen, rhp
5. Mitch Brown, rhp
6. Danny Salazar, rhp
7. Luigi Rodriguez, of
8. Ronny Rodriguez, ss/2b
9. Jesus Aguilar, 1b
10. Chen Lee, rhp

The only quibble I have is why Lee was picked over Wolters, since Lee's upside is a reliever and Wolters could become a starting middle infielder at the major-league level. Jose Ramirez is another with upside that could have been ranked.

The comments hints that the Indians' system that will very likely be ranked in the bottom third of MLB mainly because it lacks good prospects in the upper levels of the system. We'll probably start to see some of the talented players trickle into AA by the end of the season, but for the most part the Indians aren't going to get a lot of help from the farm system in 2013. Most of the top prospects in the organization ended 2012 in Carolina or below (Lindor, Paulino, Naquin, Brown, both Rodriguezes).
