Alex Rodriguez strikes out 3 times, makes final out, as Tigers eliminate Yankees from ALDS, 3-2
Gotta love the New York headlines.

That the Yankees were even in the game at the end was a minor miracle. Starter Ivan Nova left with an arm injury after the second inning after giving up two first inning home runs. New York would use six relief pitchers, including Game 3 starter C.C. Sabathia, and those six would allow just one run. That run which proved to be the ALDS-winning run, came on LGFT Victor Martinez's two-out single in the fifth inning, and came off Victor's former teammate Sabathia.

The Yankees would mount their biggest threat in the seventh inning, loading the bases in with one out, but Joaquin Benoit would get out of the inning with allowing just one run to score. Derek Jeter just missed hitting a two-run homer in the eighth, but his fly ball, a normal out in most parks, was caught on the warning track. So now the ALCS is set, with Texas and Detroit facing off. The Indians played both clubs in September, and they lost all nine games against the Tigers and Rangers. It should be an excellent series.

White Sox tab popular ex-3B Robin Ventura to replace Ozzie - Chicago Sun-Times
Thus ends the possibility of Sandy Alomar heading to Chicago. Ventura hasn't had any on-field managerial or even coaching experience, and his only front experience was as an assistant in the White Sox scouting department. To say this hire was out of the blue would be an understatement.

Sandy Alomar Jr. happy to be Cleveland Indians bench coach; White Sox hire Robin Ventura | cleveland.com
Some interesting information here, starting with Sandy Alomar. Hoynes asked Alomar via text message if he had been contacted by the White Sox:

"No, sir, I never received a call from the White Sox," said Alomar in a text message. "I was going to take my name out of consideration, anyway. I just want to keep moving and taking the next step in my coaching career.

Which means that Alomar will be the Indians' bench coach next season.

Hoynes also noted that the Indians were looking for a first base coach with a couple specific abilities:

Acta is looking for a first base coach who can teach outfield play and baserunning.
