Game 85: White Sox 5, Indians 1

New, comments

Aaron Laffey went 6 innings in his return to the rotation, but had one bad inning, and with the Indians not being able to solve Jose Contreras again, that three-run inning was the game. Laffey recorded less outs on the ground than in the air, so he pitched pretty well just to get through six, especially in The Cell.

Jose Contreras had what looked like a generous strike zone to work with, and kept his pitches down. The results was a 9 strike out, 11 ground ball out start. Jhonny Peralta hit a seventh-inning home run off Contreras to account for the Indians' lone run of the night.

Chris Perez looked much better tonight. striking out two in an inning of work. At this point, probably the worst thing for Perez is to go several days without pitching, and it was good that he was able to get back into a game so soon.
