Is there anything so frustrating as a 1-0 loss? Especially taken in context with how poorly this team has been hitting. It's one thing to write off one performance like this to the opposing pitcher just being on his game; it's quite another to give that excuse 10 times in 14 games. At some point it's more the offense than the pitching.

And speaking of pitching, Fausto Carmona pitched another seven good innings, and Rafael Perez gave another strong performance. That those efforts were ceremoniously wasted by the offense doesn't diminish them, just makes them tragic.

I guess this says all you need to know about the hitters' approach:

Baker (6-4) struck out four and walked two, retiring 19 of his last 22 batters. He kept the Indians guessing at the plate by changing speeds and locations.

"These guys are pretty aggressive," Baker said of the Indians' lineup. "Anytime you can do that, it's pretty effective."
