Fausto Carmona had gopheritis last night, giving up a three-run home run to Juan Uribe, and later a two-run shot to Jermaine Dye. He left the game before finishing five innings. He hadn't pitched in a game situation since very early April, and he wasn't able to command his pitches all night.

The offense had their opportunities against Javier Vazquez, including loading the bases with just one out in the fourth. Vazquez struck out Trot Nixon and Travis Hafner to end the threat, and Dye made the score 6-2 soon afterwards.

Next up: A rare Saturday afternoon game. John Danks vs. Paul Byrd, 1:05 PM
