Last season, the Indians played in a league-best number of one-run games. This year, they've seemingly participated in nothing but blowouts. Last night, they were on the good side of a rout, beating Joe Blanton and Oakland 11-2.
Jhonny Peralta and Victor Martinez both had multiple hits. Victor hit a home run in his 2-for-4 night, and Peralta hit two singles.
But the key was Paul Byrd pitching seven solid innings. That's all the Indians offense needs, but haven't been getting, on a consistent basis.
Season 106, Game 59
Oakland (28-31) at Cleveland (29-29), 12:05 PM (STO)
Starting Pitchers:
Cleveland: Jason Johnson (3-5, 5.92 ERA)
Oakland: Esteban Loaiza (0-3, 8.35 ERA)
Loaiza is making his first start since going on the DL in late April. On paper, it looks like another high-scoring game.
