Brandon has left the building

The Associated Press is reporting that Brandon Phillips has been traded to the Reds, for cash or a Player To Be Named Later.  The trade will be completed by June 15.  PTBNL trades are often made in situations when the player the two teams have agreed upon is a prospect who was signed less than a year ago. Then again, the Indians may have basically traded Phillips for a bag of balls.

This trade is the first consummated between the two teams since Wayne Krivsky became the new General Manager of the Reds.  Krivsky was hired for the job in February after eight years as assistant GM for the Twins.  This may be a sign of things to come for Reds fans, as Phillips is in many ways a classic Twins hitter, i.e., terrible.
