Season 106, Game 25

Texas (12-12) at Cleveland (13-11), 8:05 PM (ESPN)

Starting Pitchers:

Cleveland: Jake Westbrook (2-2, 5.52 ERA)
Texas: Vicente Padilla (2-1, 3.64 ERA)

Padilla's peripherals don't look all that strong. He's allowed 28 hits in his 29.2 innings, and 5 home  runs. Four of those homers came at Oakland on April 15th. He's also walked 13, including 4 in his last start. Still, the Rangers got him essentially for nothing; they gave up former Indians prospect Ricardo Rodriguez, who was later released by the Phillies. With the injury to Adam Eaton, Padilla is now even more important to the Rangers.

Jake Westbrook had a pretty good outing against the Red Sox last time out, but fell into some past  bad habits, nibbling after he got ahead in the count. His 6 walks contributed to his early exit, and lead to an Indians loss.

Ramon Vazquez is in the lineup for the second straight night, this time for Aaron Boone. Padilla is very good against right-handed hitters, holding them to a career .237 BAA. Left-handed hitters are hitting .287 against Padilla.
