If I were Mark Shapiro

I would call Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane and ask about Marco Scutaro.

What the Indians need is an experienced utility infielder to cover any injuries or slumps by young players Jhonny Peralta and Josh Barfield. Scutaro has backed up Bobby Crosby and Mark Ellis for a couple of seasons and has done an excellent job. Scutaro is an above average glove, and a adequete stick, and would help solidify the Indians infield defense. Scutaro is from Venezuela, and grew up idolizing Omar Vizquel (never a bad thing), and was originally signed by the Indians in the early 1990's. With the additions of Roberto Hernandez, Aaron Fultz and Joe Borowski, the Tribe could dangle Jason Davis and his impressive arm for Scutaro. Davis has all the talent, but it is becoming clear he will never succeed in Cleveland, and Beane may believe that his coaches could straighten Davis out.
