The first major trade of the offseason involves the Indians:
The Padres have ignited the hot-stove season Wednesday, trading second baseman Josh Barfield to the Indians for highly regarded Triple-A third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff and Triple-A pitcher Andrew Brown.
My first impression is that this is an excellent deal on many levels. More to come.
UPDATE: Chris Kline of Baseball America thinks the Indians did quite well in this deal, though on balance the Indians' infield defense may still figure to be an issue. [Jay]
