The Cubs have re-signed both Aramis Ramirez and Kerry Wood. Ramirez gets five years and $73M, which isn't a bad deal considering the market. Wood is coming back on a one-year deal worth $1.75M plus incentives. Wood had been talked about as an experimental closer candidate, and it looks like he'll be doing that with the Cubs.
The Yankees, who are continuing the role of seller, have dumped Jaret Wright on the Orioles, paying $4M of the $7M Wright is owed in 2007. Even in this market, I didn't see Wright worth more than $3M, and the Orioles gave up a 23-year-old reliever (Chris Britton) who was actually pretty good.
