First, some housekeeping. SB Nation management would like readers to fill out a quick survey, in order to match potential advertisers with specific sites. The survey should take about two minutes. Thanks!

Frankly, I'm a bit surprised this series is as close as it, but then again, I thought the Detroit-Oakland matchup would be a good one. Even though the Mets still have the home-field advantage, the pitching matchups after tonight don't look good. I still think New York's offense is way too much for the Cardinals' pitching, but if St. Louis can steal this one, they'll have Carpenter going in Game 6 with a chance to clinch.

Akinori Iwamura, a 27-year-old infielder with the Yakult Swallows of the Japan Central League, will be allowed to come the States. The Indians have been scouting Iwamura, who has mostly played third but is capable of playing at second. Here's his career statistics.
