With several players from playoff-bound minor-league teams going to Cleveland, the Indians promoted some players from the lower minors to Akron and Buffalo.
Heading to Buffalo: LHP Jeremy Sowers (AA), SS Brian Finegan (A-), OF Ben Francisco (AA)
Sowers is the best prospect here; he's posted some great numbers in his first full professional season. Most encouraging has been Sowers' tidy 149-to-29 strikeout to walk ratio. At this point in time, he's the best prospect in the organization, and has an outside shot of making the Indians' rotation next season.
Ben Francisco has a decent chance of being a reserve outfielder in the majors. He's spent all 2005 with the Aeros, hitting .307/.357/.474 in Akron.
Brian Finegan is making the big jump to Buffalo, so I wouldn't expect much from the 2004 draft pick. Finegan's had a good year with the Captains, hitting .292/.374/.428 with nine home runs and 30 doubles.
To Akron: OF Trevor Crowe
Crowe, the Indians' 2005 first-rounder, hasn't had a great professional debut, but gets the promotion all the way to Akron to finish his first season in pro baseball. Trevor hit .258/.327/.326 with the Captains (178 AB). He's probably replacing Francisco in the lineup.
That's all I know about right now; there's probably more coming.
