The rumors are flying already (including this possible blockbuster), and the Indians are involved in some of them. The most interesting one is that the Indians are aggresively pursuing Javier Vazquez, who has demanded a trade.
The Diamondbacks apparently want a center fielder, and have asked for Coco Crisp:
The Diamondbacks, in need of a center fielder, want Coco Crisp. The Indians aren't willing to part with Crisp, who is productive and affordable even though he's eligible for arbitration next month. Arizona is also reluctant to absorb any of Vazquez's salary.
If the Indians lose out on Hoffman, this would be a great way to spend the money earmarked for a closer. Giving up Crisp would be difficult, especially if they don't get an outfielder in return.
