AL Gold Gloves, Silver Sluggers

No Indian won either award. Which isn't surprising when it comes to the Gold Gloves, but there were several players who could have the Silver Slugger Award for their position.

First, here's who won the Gold Gloves:

C Jason Varitek
1B Mark Teixeira
2B Orlando Hudson
SS Derek Jeter
3B Eric Chavez
OF Torii Hunter
OF Vernon Wells
OF Ichiro
P Kenny Rogers

Actually now that I think about it, Jake Westbrook could have won a Gold Glove. The Gold Gloves seem to go more on reputation than actual analysis; players that may have deserved Gold Gloves earlier in their careers tend to grab a couple later in their careers when they have no business winning them. That being said, I don't have a big deal with any of the selections except for Jeter, but I won't bore you with that diatribe again.

Now for the Silver Sluggers:

1B Mark Teixeira
2B Alfonso Soriano
3B Alex Rodriguez
SS Miguel Tejada
OF Vladimir Guerrero
OF Manny Ramirez
OF Gary Sheffield
C Jason Varitek
DH David Ortiz

Victor Martinez should have beat out Jason Varitek. Brian Roberts had a better year than Soriano (especially when you consider park effects), but voters apparently dug the long ball. I'm not going to complain too much about Hafner losing out, but he better be an All-Star next year, darn it!

If the AL gave out a Silver Slugger for pitchers, CC Sabathia would have won by a landslide.
