Outrighted RHP Kyle Denney and 1B/OF Jeff Liefer to Buffalo (AAA)
By my count, the 40-man roster now stands at 38. When Jason Young was outrighted, the Indians reinstated Denney from the 60-day Disabled List.
Jeff Liefer, at this point in his career, is probably good enough to get a non-roster invite to a club, and could possibly get a job with a National League team, where players get more opportunities to play. To some extent, Jose Hernandez is in the same boat; he's a pretty valuable player, given his positional versatility and power off the bench, but I wonder whether he'd be better off on a National League team where his attributes would play better.
Also remember that Liefer would have been eligible for arbitration this year (3+ years service time), so this was a pretty easy decision. Both Liefer and Denney can now become minor-league free agents in about a week.
