Hall of Fame sports writer Hal Lebovitz passed away today at the age of 89. Hal wrote for the now-defunct Cleveland News, The Cleveland Plain-Dealer, and finally, The News-Herald. He also penned articles for the The Sporting News from 1947 to 1993.
Hal has been the voice of Cleveland sports for three generations. To say he will be sorely missed is a grievous understatement. His Sunday sports column has been a ritual for me as long as I've lived, and I'm sure most of you have read Hal for most of your lives as well.
This is most definitely a sad day in Cleveland sports.
